We hold monthly Big Cook Little Cook sessions where the children and their parents cook together. There are 10 places available in the morning session and 10 available in the afternoon session. Electronic sign up forms are sent out to all 3-5 years olds a few weeks before the event (see list of future events for details). Anyone who does not get a place will have the name added the next session.
Cooking is an excellent way to spend time together, it teaches children about nutrition and helps keep them healthy, fussy eaters are more like to eat foods the cook, it helps the children to take responsibility for tidy up, it helps develop lots of skills for the children and last but not least it is fun.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our sponsored walks in September. The 3-5 year olds had the opportunity to practice what they had been learning about road safety and the under three the walk to develop their curiosity. Thank also to everyone who sponsored the children and helped us raise over £800 to develop the outdoor spaces for each room. The staff are currently consulting with the children about how the money should be spent so look out for some new resources soon.
We held our annual big snack event on August and we were delighted to see many different family member attending the morning and afternoon sessions. This was an opportunity for the families to meet their children's friends and their families and enjoy some healthy snacks together. It also allowed parents and other family members to see how the room is set for lunch and the routine that the children have at lunch time. Please have a look at the parent feedback section to see comments left by the families after the big snack.
